Alternative payment methods
As a creative I’m one of the lucky professionals who receives amazingly odd payment offers from potential clients. Sometimes I like to imagine how could it be if I try to use the same techniques as a customer in normal life situations…
Can you imagine scenes like:
- Hi, I need a cake for my birthday party. Big one, for 50 people. Now this is the deal: YOU use your own ingredients and YOU make the cake and then you can have a slice. For free!
OR
- Hi, I need a cake for my birthday party. It’s for 50 people. This my idea: YOU use your own ingredients and YOU make the cake and this way you can have massive exposure among my guests AND they can tell their friends how fuckin you rock at cakes! It’s a big opportunity I’m giving you pal!
OR
- Hi, I need a big cake for 50 people. What? Money? Mmmmh no listen to me… NOW you make this cake for free, BUT if it’s good and people enjoy it I might come back with a much bigger order for you. What you think?
OR
- Hi, how much do you ask to make a cake for 50 people? Mh ok… Listen, this cake thing is totally new to me, so I’m not going to invest too much money in this thing, I’m sure you understand… So my budget is 50% of what you ask. Deal?
etc, etc…
Now, using these techniques, how many cakes do you think I’m going to get? Precisely. The same number of designs you’ll get from me with the same requests. Face it. -

This design is now online on LaFraise.com contest. Your $upport is much appreciated :)

In December 2012 I made three new series for punkypins. First one is inspired by Alice in Wonderland’s world (called Alice in Kawaiiland), second is inspired by Harajuku’s pop imagery and third is inspired by classic comics.
Enjoy. -
